What is Street Style?
Street style is something that is customized and represents your personality. You take a plain article of clothing and transform it into something chic by altering it or simply adding bold accessories to the look.

Street Style cannot be classified in one category because there are simply too many classifications. They range from trendy and chic to hipster and bold.

How would you describe your personal street style? Let us know!

Have a fantastic weekend!

Fantastic Friday Recipe

Recipe
How many of us are thinking “Yes, it’s finally Friday?” I know I definitely am.

However, on the other side of things, I have absolutely no idea what I feel like doing on this Friday evening.. all I know is that I feel like baking some chocolate chip cookies and having a bowl of ice cream to go along with the cookies.

Here’s one of my favorite recipes:

Ingredients
  • 2¼ cups of all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ cup of butter
  • 1 tsp salt (if using unsalted butter)
  • 1 cup of packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup of granulated sugar
  • 1½ tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions
  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Cream together your butter and sugar until it’s light and fluffy. Add in the eggs and vanilla, mixing thoroughly. Beat in the flour, baking soda and salt.
  3. When that is done, fold in the two cups of chocolate chips by hand, and prepare to put them on some parchment paper lined cookie sheets.
  4. Drop by rounded teaspoonful onto the baking sheets.
  5. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown and slightly underdone. Cool on the sheets completely.
  6. Enjoy your delicious cookies !

Summer 2013
Is it Summer yet?
It’s coming! and so are the new trends and fashions in stores and your local boutiques. So.. for myself personally, i’m always wondering what should I have in my Summer Wardrobe?
What kind of accessories should I pick up, what colors should I focus on buying and what can I do with my old clothes to make them more for Summer clothing so I can save some extra money.
Here are a few of my personal favorites suggestions that I have in my closet ..
Cut-off Shorts they are a classic and super casual for Summer and not to mention.. super easy to make. I know everyone has a pair of old jeans that they don’t wear anymore, and that are just sitting in their closet.. easy fix: trim the bottom half of the legs off of them. You can also cut off the sleeves to any long-sleeve shirts for a different look. – Turn your old long sleeves into new short sleeves or sleeveless.
Still want to add more to either your new cutoffs? Simple, sew on a design or some patch work.
What else should you pick up to add to your Summer Wardrobe? Accessories! If you’re feeling like your outfit seems to look a little plain, or just ordinary and you want to make it more personalized, use accessories.
What kind of accessories? Long necklaces, feathered earrings even super light scarfs will add a nice personalized look to your outfit. Pick accessories that are bold in color to dress up a plainer outfit.
Scarfs – I love scarfs.. I tend to wear them with everything and anything I can’t help it, I just always find a scarf dresses up  my outfits to that extra step i’m looking for. As well, on another note, scarfs are so handy.
Your simple scarf can not only dress up your outfit, keep your neck warm (Hopefully Summer will come and we won’t need to use our scarfs for this purpose), you can use your scarf to throw over your shoulders when you’re wearing something sleeveless. Scarfs are yes; fashionable but also useful. You can use your scarf when you’re on the beach this summer as something to sit onor when you’re wearing your bathing suit.. tie your scarf around your waist.

What is Your Signature Color?

Signature Color

 What is Your Signature Color?

How many of us used to constantly write out our names practicing our signatures to perfection, so whenever the chance came for us to sign something with our name on it, our signature looked great? We were pleased how our name looked on paper.  Although – how many of us ever thought, what would my Signature color be? The one color that I know looks great on me, the color I search for in stores when it come’s to choosing different fashions – the color I turn to when I don’t know what else to wear.

The more I thought about this, the more it made me wonder – what would my Signature color be if I had one? So I begin thinking and trying to decide what it could be, but then I also wondered how could I pick just one color, and what would be the determining factors for that color to become my Signature color? In the end I decided my signature color was going to be red although before I decided I thought of these things (Hopefully they will help you choose what your signature color will be too!)

  1. Take a serious assessment of your overall current style, deciding if you are traditional, modern, fashion-forward, casual, hippie natural, etc.
  2. Determine what you are trying to accomplish with your signature style: to stand out, make a fashion statement, bold hues or just to have fun with fashion.
  3. Don’t hesitate to imitate a look and make it your own, making sure it fits into your current style and personality.
  4. Decide what you would be most comfortable changing: your hair, wardrobe colors or accessories.
  5. If you are choosing a bold new wardrobe color, start by incorporating it as a shirt, tie or scarf color to see how well it works for you.
  6. Rely on accessories until your confident with your color – add a bright blue necklace or wear your ruby red earrings.

SPRING IS COMING – What are the TRENDS?

Spring Trends 2013

Good afternoon Fashionsta’s!

So I’m personally getting tired of waking up, looking out my window & all i’m seeing is snow.
However, I keep reminding myself.. Spring is JUST around the corner.

I know were all probably looking through our closets trying to decide: what is still in this season, should I keep this, & what else do I need to buy to make my Spring wardrobe complete?

Here are some of the trends for 2013

- Black & White Print: Yes.. Black & White Print; were all so used to wearing pure black and white articles of clothing, I turned to those colors when I have nothing else or I’m trying to match what I already have on. Why? Because they go with mostly everything. However this season .. black & white prints are in so pick some up! & pair it with a bold accessory.

- Colorful Blazers: I know each of us has that black boyfriend blazer hanging in our closets that we turned to when were wearing jeans & want to dress it up, or even when were in dress pants. Although, this season pick yourself up a colorful blazer, they’re fun, bold and bright. (My personal favorite colored blazer right now is red!)

- Pastel colors …are still in! Especially mint green, Pastels look great on everyone and you can mix & match them with just about anything.

Get excited Fashionsta’s! Spring is ON IT’S WAY!

Inspiration: Passion for Coffee

Inspiration: Coffee

Good afternoon Fashionsta’s

Who else is thinking.. “I can’t believe it’s only Tuesday, this week is never going to end” – Believe me, you’re not alone.
Mondays & Tuesday’s are the two days I usually find the hardest, they’re the ones right in the beginning of the week.  I especially dread Mondays – the day after the weekend.

Although, there’s ways to get through the week, exercising, reading our blogs, and one of my personal favorites .. drinking a large hot coffee, and walking around downtown.

PEI is so beautiful – Charlottetown especially, it’s relaxing to walk downtown when the city lights are turned on, and the street’s are not crowded, it gives you time to look around, and realize how fortunate we are
to live on a beautiful island, where the people are friendly & are always offering welcomes filled with warmth.

So here’s a idea -
If your struggling to get through this work week, no matter the reasoning – take a walk downtown, breathe in the fresh air, & sip on your hot coffee, tea even hot chocolate.. whatever your personal preference is.. enjoy it.
As your walking around, look around & make sure you take in all of your surroundings.

If your not feeling up to walking around town, turn on your kettle, and create your own pick-me-up drink.

Two of my personal favorites are -

Spiced Orange Coffee

  • 1 teaspoon fresh, grated orange peel
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 5 whole cloves
  • Regular amount of your usual coffee or try Swiss Chocolate Orange flavored coffeeAdd the above ingredients together and brew as normal. Place a slice of orange at the bottom or your cup. Pour in coffee and add suger and cream to taste. Top with whipping cream and sprinkle with a dash of nutmeg and cinnamon if so desired.

Mint Cocoa Coffee

  • 1 ounce of chocolate mint liquear
  • Dash of shaved chocolate
  • Whipping cream (optional)
  • Regular coffee or try Dutch Chocolate Decaf flavored coffee

Brew your regular coffee, add the 1 ounce of liquear into your cup. Add some whipping cream if desired and sprinkle with shaved chocolate.

Enjoy the rest of the afternoon!

Saturday Style: A Slight State of Nirvana

There are a lot of rock stars smiling up in heaven right now.   I just love this 2013 trend! For many reasons.. Firstly, because it is one that can be done cheaply/eco-friendly.  The best source to find the “grunge” look is to take time to scour the second hand stores in your area; Value Village, Repeats, Frenchy’s, The Green Man, Nearly New, Salvation Army, The Clothing District, My Sister’s Closet, just to name a few that can be found in PEI. Secondly, there is nothing more gratifying than taking a $20 bill into your nearest thrift shop and not only leaving with an entire outfit, but one that no one else around will have!  Thirdly, there is a new way to do causal cool without the classic yoga pants and Ugg boots ensemble which is soo out the window….
